Not even knee surgery could prevent Gregory Kaye from obtaining an athletic scholarship.The Marlboro High School senior will continue Soccer Jerseyhis soccer career on the New Jersey Institute of Technology men's team at the NCAA Division I level."After all I have been through, it feels great," Kaye said. "I have been working for a scholarship for my entire life. To come back from surgery is a big challenge. This is a great ending, to win a Division I scholarship. I had to work extra hours to get over the hump to attain this scholarship."
Kaye said he chose NJIT over the New York Institute of Technology, Hofstra, Rutgers, Monmouth,flags, Delaware and Rider. He will major in international business and minor in information Soccer Jerseytechnology."NJIT gave me the scholarship," Kaye said. "That's one of the main reasons I chose it. They have a record of very good job placement out of college. It's not too shabby of a school. It's not the easiest school to get into. It met my academic requirements."
Kaye played varsity three seasons at outside back for the Mustangs.The 5-foot-7 Kaye was recruited as an outside halfback by NJIT coach Cesar Markovic."They did not have the greatest team last year, but they have a perfect turf field that is fantastic," Kaye said. Soccer Jersey"The coach is a level-headed guy. I can see myself playing under him. And it's D-1. That's what I always wanted to do ?? play Division One."
