<P>1 MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB<BR>The main purpose of the Programme Manager – Humane and Sustainable Agriculture (HSA) role is to provide leadership and direction to the campaign to end the suffering of animals farmed for food, and put the welfare of animals at the heart of farming in the China context.</P>
<P>2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION</P>

<P>· Functionally managed by Asia Pacific HSA Campaign manager </P>
<P>· Member of organization Senior Management Team</P>
<P>· Works closely with international, regional, and country staff to develop, deliver and work within agreed/approved strategies and frameworks</P>

<P>· Degree level or equivalent.</P>
<P>6 PERSON SPECIFICATION: EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS</P>
<P><BR>· Minimum 5 years working in a campaign, advocacy or government relations related post </P>
<P>· Good knowledge and understanding of international and regional farm animal welfare issues</P>
<P>· Good knowledge and understanding of China farm animal sector, and meat food production chain</P>
<P>· Ability to lead and inspire multi-disciplined teams and build strong constructive relationships with other departments at all levels</P>
<P>· Experience working internationally and in a multi-cultural environment</P>
<P>· Strong knowledge of global and regional socio-economic, political and environmental issues</P>
<P>· Experience in project management.</P>
<P>Proven track record of building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse external stakeholders in order to create change<BR>· Strong interpersonal, networking and organisational skills.</P>
<P>· Excellent communications skills (written, oral and presentation)</P>
<P>· Previous experience with budgeting and financial management</P>
<P>· Flexible to travel at short notice</P>

<P>DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</P>
<P><BR>Leadership & management 30%</P>
<P><BR>Lead, motivate and manage staff to reach their full potential and to deliver the best possible outcomes and achievements against agreed objectives<BR>· Ensure oversight of the delivery of the HSA programmes and projects in China </P>
<P>· Provide strategic direction to the HSA programme team in China </P>
<P>· Support other teams of WSPA China to position WSPA as the leading international animal welfare organisation in China</P>
<P>· Advise the organization Country Director and Asia Pacific HSA campaign manager on HSA issues as required </P>
<P>· Liaise with organization staff, international staff and staff in Asia Pacific region to ensure a coordinated approach to HSA </P>
<P><BR>Operational Management 30%</P>
<P><BR>· Lead the HSA team in the development and implementation of HSA projects and initiatives in support of WSPA China objectives </P>
<P>· Identify and address areas of dependency, conflict or collaboration between HSA projects, including existing humane slaughter, and model farm projects</P>
<P>· Contribute to the development of Asia Pacific regional policies, guidelines and standards relating to HSA </P>
<P>· Collaborate with organization, international and Asia Pacific regional colleagues in regional and cross-programme initiatives and projects by providing technical leadership / input as appropriate.</P>
<P>· Monitor the sensitive issues that could impact HSA work and advise senior leadership on how to position the organisation </P>
<P>· Advise China and Asia Pacific regional colleagues on China context and appropriate HSA positioning related to China </P>
<P>· Liaise and advise on representation requests made to the HSA programme team as required.</P>
<P><BR>Strategy development 20%</P>
<P><BR>· Lead the development and implementation of China HSA strategies and projects in support of, and in alignment with, Asia Pacific regional strategies</P>
<P>· Contribute to overall China strategy including programme and communication strategies, priorities and plans<BR></P>
